Hello,
The European congress has ended 3 weeks ago and it was really a good one.
We had the chance to have lecture from James Costa who presented us all these peculiar self-organized behaviours non-social insects' larvae are able to perform. We were also lucky to receive Stuart West with a talk about sociality in microbes. The talk was interesting despite the problem that prevented him from using a powerpoint presentaion...he had to use a chalkboard for 40minutes...an "interesting" congress experience!
The two other plenary lecturers were Tom Wensellers who tried to convince us that altruism can be "enforced" and Laurent Keller who drawn a complete and updated picture of research in Solenopsis invicta.
Asides from these talks we had about 170 oral presentations and 60 posters from experienced researchers, phD students, Msc Students...
The atmosphere was really nice from the arrival cocktail party to the closing danse party, the latter being a great way to nicely ended these 4 days!
I am trying tu update the website with pictures, it takes time but some pictures are already in. Feel free to have a look...
IUIISI 2008 congress Blegium
The president of the Italian section, Donato Grasso, proposed to organize the next IUSSI European Congress and, of course, everyone has approved!
So...after Copenhagen...Italia!
