There seems to be a brand new book about ants and their insect partners: Stadler, B. & Dixon, A. F. G. 2008. Mutualism, Ants and their Insect Partners. Cambridge University Press. 226 p.
http://www.cambridge.org/catalogue/catalogue.asp?isbn=9780521860352

I am considering buying this and would like to know if someone has opinion or two about its quality and scope. Book seems to be concentrated mainly on ant-aphid relations, but looks interesting nonetheless.

I just received it last week but I did not had the time to read it yet. Just took a look to it. I have a long flight trip planed fro the end of the week and I think I will read it then.

The book seems to present several conceptual and mathematical models on ant-homopteran mutualism.
Apparently, it is not restricted only to aphid-ant interactions but also included Coccids, Membracids and Lycaenids interactions.
It seems also that they consider the role of the ost plant in one of the chapter which is an essential component too.

Sorry, I can't tell more for the moment. But my first feeling on it is good.

Thanks for the answer. I'd like to know if it is too heavy for recreational reading i.e. contains lots of mathematical formulas and things like that.

This forum looks really promising. Too bad it is so quiet... Sad
